The longevity of hair extensions can vary depending on the type and method of application. Here’s a breakdown of how long different types of extensions typically last:

  1. Clip-in Extensions:

    • Lifespan: 1 year or longer.

    • Clip-in extensions are the most temporary type, as they are not attached to your natural hair for extended periods. With proper care, they can last a year or longer. Frequent use and proper storage are key to prolonging their lifespan.

  2. Tape-in Extensions:

    • Lifespan: 8-10 weeks (before needing reapplication).

    • Tape-ins can last for several months but require professional reapplication to move the bonds closer to the scalp as your natural hair grows. The actual hair can be reused for multiple cycles if well cared for for up to 8 months.

  3. Fusion (Keratin Bonded) Extensions:

    • Lifespan: 2 to 4 months.

    • Fusion extensions are semi-permanent and can last between 2 and 4 months, depending on how well they are maintained. However, they do need to be professionally removed. and the hair is not reusable.
